Jean-Léon Gérôme

Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904)
-Style: Orientalism and Academicism
-A salon painter, he made a living by being paid commissions for paintings requested by wealthy Frenchmen.

MY FAVOURITE WORKS:
-Diogenes (1860)
-Eminence Grise (1873)
-The Two Majesties (1883)
-Pygmalion and Galatea (1890). Pygmalion, a legendary Cypriot sculptor, falls in love with a statue (representing Galatea)  that he carved after Venus brought such statue to life.
